Can I Get a Physical at Urgent Care?
When you think about urgent care centers, you probably associate them with illness and injury care. We are proud to help take care of our community by treating you when you aren’t feeling well or helping you heal after an accident!
But that’s not all that we do. We also are here to help you live your healthiest life possible. If you don’t already have an annual physical done, you really should prioritize that as part of your wellness routine.
Our AFC Urgent Care Boulder team will gladly handle your general physical. We explain more about what a physical looks like at our urgent care center below.
What Does a Physical Include?
If you were to come see us when you are sick or if you are injured, your visit would be tailored to your symptoms and focused on a particular area of concern. General physicals are much broader. The goal of a physical is to get an overview of your wellness from the tips of your toes to the top of your head!
We will first get a thorough health history as well as your family’s health history. Many different conditions and diseases are hereditary, so this gives us a solid foundation for what you are most at risk for. A physical exam will follow, and your provider will look at your eyes, ears, nose, throat and skin for any obvious issues. In addition, we will also check things like your reflexes, heart rate and more.
Various Physicals That We Offer
- General yearly physicals
- School physicals
- Employment physicals
- Sports or camp physicals
What Happens if I Fail a Physical?
Physicals are a great preventive step in your wellness routine, since getting them regularly can help prevent you from developing certain conditions. They are also helpful in catching issues early before they progress to something more severe. If we do discover something that needs to be investigated further, we can take a closer look together, so you don’t really fail a physical. The results from your physical can point us in the right direction if we need to evaluate something more in depth.
We have a full-service lab on site that we use to run various blood tests and cultures, and we also have an X-ray machine at our disposal. If we need to get a better picture of what is going on inside your body, we can take care of all this and more right here in our center. Once your physical exam is over, we will discuss any necessary lifestyle changes that you should make in order to live the healthiest life possible.
