What Are the Symptoms of the Flu This Year?
Influenza is here, and it is widespread all over the state at this point. Because of this, it is important to understand the symptoms associated with the flu and how to treat it if you do get sick!
If you haven’t yet, get your annual flu shot to help reduce your risk of even getting sick. This year’s flu shot is a good match for the influenza strains this season. If you do end up getting sick, check out our latest blog all about influenza brought to you by our AFC Urgent Care Boulder team below.
Do I Have the Flu?
Coming down with an illness at this point in the year is pretty common since there are so many different viruses and illnesses circulating about! If you start to experience a mild runny nose, sneezing and sore throat, keep an eye on it.
While the common cold usually develops slowly over the course of a day or two, the flu typically comes on suddenly and can make you feel immediately miserable. If this happens, prioritize rest, fluids and you can take any medications desired to reduce any symptoms you are experiencing.
Symptoms of the Flu
- Fever
- Runny nose/congestion
- Sore throat
- Cough
- Muscle or body aches
Is It Too Late to Get a Flu Shot?
No! While the flu shot can provide a more comprehensive level of protection the earlier in the season that you get it, it can still keep you from getting sick or even getting sick a second time if you come into contact with the flu again. You can come see us any day of the week for your flu shot.
Bring your whole family! Everyone can benefit from the flu shot. Small children and babies are at a higher risk of more severe illness because of their small airways, so it is really important that they get all the protection available to them each season. You can avoid serious complications for your children just by getting them vaccinated.
